With the development of genetic engineering, studies on genomic sequencing have been carried out not only for microorganisms but also for higher animals and plants. Determination of the whole genomic sequence in Arabidopsis thaliana (about 130Mb) was the main observational focus in the plant kingdom in the twenty century; recently researchers' interest have shifted to functional analysis of unknown genes, so-called post genome.
In circumstances like this, we have developed the High-Throughput Gene Mapping System in order to shorten the time expended and simplify its method. With the corporation of the GCS group of Riken (The Institute of Physical and Chemical Research) we applied for a patent of "Primers for the High-Throughput Plants Gene Mapping" in February 2002. At the same time we have conducted pre-resting gene mapping services since April 2002. In March 2003, due to overwhelming public response, we established gInplanta Innovations Inch. The company is located in Yokohama city close to Riken.
Our company offers total solution services in the field of plant biology to support researchers and technicians at both academic institutions and corporations. Our company has two main businesses to provide technical skills based on patent technique of mapping services and to distribute new gene analytical methods, which are developed in Riken institutes. Also, we are planning to expand our business to genetic patents related business in the close future. Concretely, we are going to offer our gene mapping service in various species. By establishing innovative venture company we would like to create a stir in plant business filed, which are currently dominated by European and American companies. Our companyfs primary concept is to save the predicted worldwide food crisis in the future. We do not persist to conventional bio-engineering techniques but we want to seek innovative approaches and to provide various solutions. |
